Rail stress gauge at North Shore

Rail stress gauges were installed as a trail on the East line after July 6, 2008. They are located at located at kilometre posts 57.950, 58.900, 65.950 and 67.250.

They are intended to assist in determining WOLO (hot weather) speed restrictions, by measuring the rail temperature and sending data to a central point.
