Woolscour Lane

Level Crossing
Line: Melbourne - Geelong - Warrnambool
Distance from Melbourne: 78.250 km
Track Diagram: View
Google Maps: Satellite /  Map

The level crossing at Woolscour Lane is atop the railway embankment leading to the Barwon River, resulting to road traffic approaching it uphill both ways. It is a minor dirt road which sees little use, so in 2008 the road either side of it was closed to vehicle traffic, rather than bothering with any kind of upgrade to active protection.

A new 7-span culvert with side walkway was built under the embankment to the south of the level crossing in February 2011. This allowed water to the west of the railway to drain away during major flooding, as the embankment to the former level crossing impounds water behind it.
