Princes Highway, Winchelsea

Road Overbridge
Line: Geelong and Warrnambool
Google Maps: Satellite /  Map

Located on the Geelong side of Winchelsea, this is the first crossing of the Princes Highway and the railway after leaving Geelong. Located on an acute angle, the Country Roads Board commenced construction of a two lane road over bridge in 1968/69, which was completed by 1970.

Work on building a second parallel bridge for Colac-bound traffic commenced in 2013, as part of the $171 million Princes Highway duplication between Geelong and Winchelsea. The first span was lifted into place in February 2014, each concrete beam being 33 metres long, with a total of 13 beams making up the bridge. Room is provided beneath the bridge for an additional track.
