Facing down trains a 2 position automatic signal with key switch override is located at the up side of the level crossing. Provided at the same time as the flashing lights, it prevents the crossing from operating when shunting at the adjacent Waurn Ponds cement siding. The signal was abolished in May 2023 when the siding was also removed.
