Yarraville B box was opened in 1890 at the down end of the Anderson Street level crossing, being provided with a with 23 lever No 6 pattern frame with 19 levers in use and 2 sets of gate gear.
On March 27, 1927 a new signal box was opened with a 22 lever frame in today's location, on the up side of the crossing.
In 1991 the last of the points for the Yarraville goods yard were removed, the Anderson Street interlocked gates replaced by manually controlled boom barriers in 1995, and after their conversion to automatic operation in 1996 the signal box was abolished.
