Lara wayside detection systemsDecember 30, 2011This equipment on the standard gauge line is used to measure the load on the rails by wagons, and alert the train crew if something is wrong. Initially a Teknis Wheel Condition Monitoring system was installed, with a trial Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) being added by the Institute of Railway Technology, Monash University. The WILD has since been removed, replaced by a VIPAC RailBAM Acoustic Bearing Monitor.
