West Footscray: Tracks beneath the Geelong Road overpass

The goods lines (to the right) will be slewed to the right by one track, as will the suburban lines (to the left), making room for the new RRL track pair to the left. The old signal box (in the shadows beneath the bridge) will be demolished to make room, with the railway station being relocated a short distance to the west. Presumably the north abutment of the road bridge will be undercut to make room for the new track.

West Footscray: Looking beneath the Rising Sun footbridge

Already spanning four tracks, there is room for one or two more tracks to the south end of the span. The northern pylon is already hard up against the freight lines, and the RRL project requires the existing tracks to be slewed a short distance to the north, hence the bridge is being demolished and not replaced.
