A road overbridge at Melbourne Road was provided in October 1960, replacing a level crossing
The bridge piers on the eastern side of the line have been supported by large builders struts since at least 2007, it is assumed this is due to structural issues. The bridge has a 42.5 tonne load limit for road traffic travelling over it, a very specific value, which seems to support this this theory.
In early 2010 work commenced to replace the parapets along each side of the bridge, with heavyweight concrete barriers being cast in place. Before this time the original steel parapets were rusting through, with numerous holes in them.
