Princes Highway, Birregurra

Located between Winchelsea and Birregurra, this is the second crossing of the Princes Highway and the railway. Located on an acute angle, two bridges have been located here.
The first was provided at an unknown date, and was severely damaged on December 23, 1959 when the early morning Warrnambool goods derailed involving 29 vehicles and closing the line for 48 hours. The replacement bridge was provided to the north at an unknown date. The abutments for the old bridge remain today.
