Westona is the main crossing point for up and down Werribee suburban services on the Altona line in the single line section during off peak. The brick station building is located in the centre of an island platform, with trains running on the right hand side.
The station was opened in 1985 as the temporary terminus of the line west from Altona, with only the up platform (southern face) being used. The line extension was completed to the final destination of Laverton a few months later.
